Porcelain Veneers Philadelphia, PA

Do you have chipped or crooked teeth?

The way your smile looks may be reflective of your oral health. If you have chipped, cracked or missing teeth, your smile is at risk of developing a more serious dental health concern. However, there are cosmetic procedures that can help. Porcelain veneers give you an instant smile makeover while also fixing cosmetic issues.

Our cosmetic dentist can transform just one, or many teeth using porcelain veneers. They are strong, low-maintenance and look natural. Dr. Drew Shulman uses dental veneers to treat common cosmetic dental concerns.

Dr. Shulman provides in-office cosmetic dental treatments to restore your teeth at our Philadelphia dental office. We provide the porcelain veneer procedure for patients that want to close gaps between teeth, brighten their smile, and more.

Porcelain Veneers Treatment in Philadelphia

We craft porcelain veneers from thin shells of dental ceramic. This ceramic is reflective and we can easily color-match it to your natural teeth. To begin, Dr. Shulman will remove a small amount of tooth structure from the tooth or teeth that will receive the dental veneers.

After we prepare the teeth, we will take molds or digital impressions to create the custom-fit veneers. We need precise measurements to make sure your new veneer fits comfortably.

We will fit you with temporary veneers before we create the final restoration at the dental lab. After two to three weeks, the permanent veneers should be ready. We will call you back in, remove the temporaries, and place the permanent ones. Dr. Shulman will make any necessary adjustments for a perfect fit.

We will ensure that you have a stable bite before permanently bonding them to your teeth. Finally, after your approval, we will bond your veneers to your teeth and polish them to create a natural look.

What can porcelain veneers do for me?

Porcelain veneers can correct many problems. Some dental problems that porcelain veneers can correct include:

  • Gaps between teeth
  • Stained teeth
  • Cracked teeth
  • Misshaped teeth
  • Crooked teeth
  • Broken teeth
  • Chipped teeth
  • Short teeth

Porcelain veneers offer so many benefits to our patients, including:

  • Look and feel natural
  • Protect your teeth against discoloration
  • Preserve natural tooth structure
  • Cover chips and cracks
  • Hide deep stains and discoloration
  • Are simple to maintain

The beauty of porcelain veneers is that we create them from a porcelain compound. So, the tooth-colored veneer will reflect light like real tooth enamel. They are a cosmetic restoration that will make you forget that you have them!

If you have stained, misshapen or damaged teeth, you can benefit from dental treatment using porcelain veneers. Many patients are good candidates, although patients with more extensive damage to their teeth may need different treatment.

Porcelain Veneers FAQs

Who is not a good candidate for porcelain veneers?

If you have extensive tooth decay, misaligned teeth, or suffer from chronic tooth grinding you may not be a good candidate. You are not a good candidate if you have insufficient jaw bone too. Other treatments like a root canal, dental crown, or Invisalign may be more effective than porcelain veneers for you.

What’s the difference between porcelain veneers and dental crowns?

Porcelain veneers are like hub caps for your teeth. We cement a veneer to the front of an affected tooth. Dental crowns cover the tops of teeth like a beanie. Dentists can use both for cosmetic dental purposes, but dental crowns are a restorative dental treatment for functional issues.

Can I whiten dental veneers?

No, unfortunately teeth whitening does not remove stains from veneers. Since the type of veneer we provide is stain-resistant porcelain, they will not get dark. Most, if not all, dental restorations will not whiten with traditional teeth whitening procedures.

How do I take care of my new veneers?

Take care of your veneers to maintain their longevity. Some ways you can do this are by flossing and brushing your teeth twice a day. You should also visit our dentist at least twice a year for a checkup, cleaning, and polish.

Avoid using hard toothbrushes with bristles because they can scratch the surface of your veneers. Although rare, this could cause them to chip or break. With proper care, your new veneers will last 15 to 20 years.
